A Time Machine called #DovePlay

Age brings a lot of change in us. A hectic lifestyle results in stress which in turn affects our hair too.

How often we wonder if only we could relive those good old... I mean good Young days. The days when we had no work and all play. The days when we would swear by the phrase, "All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl! The days when we would run and jump and play and dance and our hair would bounce!

Trying the Gangnam style
The  #DovePlay experience, brought to us with the help of Indiblogger, was like stepping into a Time Machine. The fun experience was organised on 11th March 2014 at J W Marriott Hotel, Juhu. Female bloggers, all dressed in white, had the lime of their life. We revisited our childhood and had so much fun we will cherish the experience forever!

We made so many new friends.
We met some old friends.
We posed with each other and clicked pictures galore.
Hats on!

We hoola hooped.
We tried different hairstyles.
We acted hair stylists as well.

We all are hairstylists!
We played so many fun games.
We solved a puzzle.
We danced... Zumba.

Back to childhood
Zumba moves
We ate so much... including desserts of all kinds.
We were pampered like how.
We learned the art of bartending.

Absolut fun! Picture courtesy Disha Kotak

The cool bartending challenge

We got so many goodies.
We received a Philips SalonStraight essential Straightener!
We Won, we lost and it didn't matter.
 Coz we laughed... a lot.
Coz we had so much fun with #DovePlay.

Greenrockstore rocks!

The other day, I and some new friends were discussing our favourite TV shows. It turned out most of us had the same taste. Big Bang Theory, Rules of Engagement and Game of Thrones were discussed at length. Then came the movies and games. Harry Potter, Andaaz Apna Apna, Rocky and Assassin's Creed... It can't be true, same taste here too! How come we never met before?

If only we could display our fascination for these television shows, movies and games and meet like-minded people! We looked up for some T-shirts on these titles. Bazinga! We found the ultimate treasure - greenrockstore.com!

I ordered a WINTER IS COMING tee for my husband's birthday and the I must say the entire process from placing an order to receiving the delivery was really smooth. And hence, I decided to review greenrockstore.com

How to earn with online shopping

There are way too many benefits of shopping online. And if you are a regular online shopper, I am guessing that you compare prices on different websites and opt for the one that offers the best rate. Of course, you also look into if the website is reputed and known for timely and quality deliveries.

So that's about spending online and getting things delivered at your doorstep.
Now, how about you earn something in the process! And by earn, I mean cash. Yeah you read it right. And no, I am not suggesting shopping from sites you have not heard of. How about buying your favourite stuff from your favourite websites and getting some cash in you bank account!

What is Cashkaro?

We like it free

The other day, I went to a standup comedy show  at Canvas Laugh Factory, Mumbai, to bring in my birthday in a laughing mode. It was the best start to my special day. As much as you enjoy laughing your guts out, the acts boost your creative juices as well.
And as luck would have it, at the end of the show they announced that the audience gets to attend the next show for free. FREE. Pinch me. I waited for them to repeat it. They did. READ MORE HERE.

KyaArt - Moulding creativity into business

She always loved arts and crafts. And when she heard about a local hobby class, she was clear about joining it to hone her skills. That was when she was just in class 8! After completing her SSC exams, she joined Rachna Sansad Institute located at Prabhadevi, Dadar (Mumbai) for a Diploma in Interiors and textiles. The rest, as they say, is history... or should I say art history!

Meet Jinisha Shah from Mumbai who runs a home decor and gifting store where she exhibits and sells her creations. The store is called KyaArt (branded by yours truly!) for obvious reasons. When you see the products at the store, you are bound to exclaim, "Kya art hai boss!"

7 Healing properties of SALE

It's sale time again at Inorbit and almost every store is offering discounts. Watches, clothes, footwear, books, accessories, home decor, bed & bath, cosmetics, toys, eyewear, bags, groceries... there's some discount on everything.

How I love this season... Monsoon ka magic and Sale waali shopping! With the rain cleaning up the dust gathered on the leaves for a year, everything around looks really new. Greener trees, cleaner roads... add to it a new set of clothes, shoes and accessories and it's like a rebirth!

I wait patiently for the two main sale seasons in the city and then I try to make the most of it. Shopping during the SALE period has countless healing properties, some of which I list here:

  1. It helps you save money. So you are happier and happier mind means healthier body!
  2. It makes you walk for hours together from one end of a mall to another, from the top floor to the LG. And thus you burn a whole lot of calories!

Hyper-Error at HyperCity!

HyperCity has always been my favourite place to shop for groceries. I love the layout and the choices available. But this once, it made me laugh! I wondered if they wouild charge more than the MRP of Minute Maid. Thankfully they charged Rs. 15 for the bottle. So it's just an error! I wonder how many people did not pick up the bottle considering that it is being sold at a higher price!

Tips for buying electronic products

This is not a sponsored post, it's my personal experience. When it comes to buying electronics, we generally head to the popular electronic megastores. The umpteen newspaper ads announcing exchange deals, best prices, free gifts etc. tempt us for sure, but also leave us confused.

Now when I decide to purchase an electronic device, and an expensive one for that matter, I always believe in five things:

Shoppers Stop - Discounts on Online Shopping

Now since Shoppers Stop is very close to my place, I always visit the store when I need to shop. But I just discovered that they have this 24x7 online shopping system. And guess what, Shoppers Stop offers free home delivery (limited period) and special discounts on several items when you shop online. Now who's gonna wait for that Sale period!

So today (May 19, 2011), I noticed there are offers on a whole range of things. Here are some examples:

Timex watches: 20% off on MRP until 26th June 2011
Pretty Woman accessories: 10% off
Sparkles jewellery: Upto 50% off
Zaveri Pearls: Special offers on purchase of 3-5 sets
Revlon: A table clock free on purchase of products worth of Rs1000

Well, of course there are those terms and conditions, but the offers are real cool. Check out the details on the official Shoppers Stop website from where this info is sourced.

Hypercity Wednesday Deals

It's Wednesday again - Time for shopping at Hypercity!
Why today? Well, Hypercity comes up with these special deals and discounts on Wednesdays which I believe are pretty decent.

Are the Hypercity Wednesday Deals worthwhile? Well, I have been shopping for groceries, personal care products, home decor stuff etc. from malls as well as other supermarkets and stores (the individual shops) in Vashi. So I have a fair idea if the stuff is really on discount or have they just tagged it as a deal. And my conclusion is that the deals at this supermarket are really worthwhile.

Shopping at Malad's Natraj Market

Sarees, salwaar kameez, lehengas, dress materials, kids' wear, sherwanis, home furnishings, bags, imitation jewellery, gold jewellery, home decor, footwear... you name it and Malad's famous Natraj market (Mumbai) has it all. But the best part is that you get all of this at the most reasonable prices and you enjoy an amazing variety. It's one-of-its-kind experience to shop at these little shops and end up returning with a dozen shopping bags! I have never returned from the Natraj market without lifting heavy shopping bags.

Natraj Market is ideal for wedding and festival shopping, whatever your budget be! Trust me, if you find an exquisite saree costing Rs 30000 elsewhere in Mumbai, you will definitely find a much better one around Rs 20000 here. If you have a budget of Rs 5000, you'll still find a great trousseau! All you need to do is hop into these shops and tell what's your budget. They will show you a wide array of designs that perfectly fit your budget.

Note: Saturdays and Sundays are obviously crowded, so are all evenings.

Natraj Market Location: Near Malad Station (west), towards SV Road, Mumbai

Sale at Shoppers Stop

Shoppers Stop is currently buzzing with up to 51% sale across its stores. I visited Shoppers Stop stores at Inorbit Malls in Malad and Vashi and was more than thrilled. The best part is that these guys offer a great variety and we need not choose from just 10-15 options of outfits we've seen someone wearing somewhere. And the stores are so huge, we really need some energy if we are serious about shopping a lot.

Of course, one thing happens with me every time during such sales. I end up liking something or the other a lot and of all the things that one thing has no discount attached to it. So I bought this super cure Swarovski crystal without any discount at all.

More than the sale every year, I love the fact that my husband has First Citizen card (some Golden Glow stuff). So that extra 5% discount on whatever I purchase makes me go WOW! Loving the fact that the sale ends just before my birthday, so I can easily indulge in shopping till drop :)

Sale Period: February 12 to March 7, 2010

Enjoy End Of Season 50% SALE at Canali, Kenzo

Men would find JW Marriott's boutiques worth visiting this January. Both Canali boutique and Kenzo store at JW Marriott have announced their End Of Season Sale. Yes you heard it right, both the brands are offering a whopping 50% discount. Now prove that men don't love to shop ;)

Palm Beach Galleria Mall – Friday Flea Market

Vashi’s Palm Beach Galleria Mall has introduced Friday Flea Market.

The Friday Flea Market features everything from home linen, handicrafts and paintings to accessories, tarot card reading, music and even food stalls! It’s a must visit. I will update you with my detailed review on this initiative by Palm Beach Galleria soon.

Karigar store at Inorbit in Vashi, Navi Mumbai

Karigar is an amazing ethnic store. It is located at Inorbit Mall in Vashi, on the ground level. Karigar has such lovely home decor and gifting items, you would want to buy them all.

Products at Karigar are not very reasonably priced, but then if you buy the stuff it has, people would definitely ask that question you love to hear, "Where did you buy it from?"

D Mart – Reasonable Stuff, Unreasonable Rule

D Mart stores in Navi Mumbai (New Bombay) are quite a boon when it comes to grocery shopping. The rates are reasonable and the variety is decent.

But there’s one thing I find completely unreasonable – they seal your handbag in a rather shabby looking zip-locked bag before you enter the store. So, in case you are carrying a couple of mobile phones or wish to listen to music with your headphones while shopping, you are in a fix (especially if you are wearing a salwaar kameez or saree). Now whether to keep both your hands busy carrying the stuff you came with or to indulge in hands-free shopping is the question.

Something needs to be done about that. D Mart guys, are you listening?

Inorbit and Hypercity in Vashi

Love both these malls!!! Love more the fact that Inorbit and Hypercity have opened up in Vashi!

Before getting married I used to wonder if I would miss my regular hangout places. But perhaps these malls loved me equally and decided to open up near my new home. What's more exciting is that Vashi's Inorbit and Hypercity malls are much more spacious and not very crowded. The security here is very impressive along with the fact that these malls have decent number of emergency exits.

Will write more about them later. I need to prepare my shopping list for the weekend ;)

Totally recommended!

Ice cream at Baskin Robbins

The Classic Banana Split at Baskin Robbins is so so so yummy and the presentation is so beautiful you wonder whether to admire the beautiful look of the sundae or to indulge in it.
Another interesting aspect is that they have provided complete nutrition facts of every ice cream on their website. Kudos to the Baskin Robbins guys. I am so impressed.
